Agreements have been reached in principle between eight countries of ASEAN to participate in a working group concept to propagate a proficiency system that works for all. It's not just a proficiency system to train free-flying pilots but to introduce a methodology that will ensure safe responsible pilots on the ground and in the air. Faced with similar challenges, instructors from different parts of the world have merged to develop a system that is effective, safe, and implementable in a particular environment. We recognize that each country demands unique requirements on the ground and in the air, therefore, sharing information across the board is an essential part of SPS. Keeping instructors up-to-date with coaching material, knowledge, and practical involvement through clinics and workshops ensuring a high-quality education system. Fly site operators and managers are equally involved and participation in local clinics and workshops is mandatory for a safe and enjoyable experience.
SPS is an entirely technology-driven organization, our member database is connected to internet tools such as instant communication, online logbooks, calendar, and more. Proficiency cards have been replaced by electronic cards, where pilot information is stored in the cloud and accessible on demand. Site managers can verify a pilot just by scanning a QR code where references can be available online in seconds. We will take the electronic card system to a new level where everything related to the hobby is available on a single web-space. Services such as online payments, online stores, insurance, and marketplace will happen inside one single environment.
A member is tasked with responsibilities within the territorial area. Members can be a local club or association which set up a task force made up of instructors, site managers, or senior pilots. This task force is responsible for the implementation of local rules & regulations. While at the same time working with the local authorities like national aviation regulators or the local government unit for permits to fly and implement those rules & regulations. SPS offers a complete range of standard operating procedures that are open source and can be easily modified to serve every member in every country or territory. Once the member has secured the necessary permissions, the SPS framework is put in place. The transitional period from being a rogue fly site to becoming a regulated high standard club or association takes some time and it's an uphill challenge, it is during this transitional period that all the other fellow members volunteer their expertise and knowledge. The core value of SPS is to develop high-quality high standard and safe aero-sports clubs and associations across ASEAN.

When you join an SPS-affiliated club, you have the chance to interact with other pilots at a regional level who will share their experiences and will give you advice about paragliding.
